You said the anger would come back
just as the love did.I have a black look I do not
like. It is a mask I try on.
I migrate toward it and its frog

Good for visiting hospitals or charitable work. Take some time to attend to your health.Surely I will be disquieted
by the hospital, that body zone--
bodies wrapped in elastic bands,
bodies cased in wood or used like telephones,
A Story For Rose On The Midnight Flight To Boston
© Anne Sexton
Until tonight they were separate specialties,
different stories, the best of their own worst.
Riding my warm cabin home, I remember Betsy's
laughter; she laughed as you did, Rose, at the first

A born salesman,
my father made all his dough
by selling wool to Fieldcrest, Woolrich and Faribo.
A Curse Against Elegies

Oh, love, why do we argue like this?

Angels Of The Love Affair
© Anne Sexton
Angel of flight and sleigh bells, do you know paralysis,
that ether house where your arms and legs are cement?

Watch out for power,
for its avalanche can bury you,
snow, snow, snow, smothering your mountain.
Anna Who Was Mad
© Anne Sexton
Anna who was mad,
I have a knife in my armpit.
When I stand on tiptoe I tap out messages.
Am I some sort of infection?
Approach Of Winter

The half-stripped trees
struck by a wind together,
bending all,
the leaves flutter drily
Aux Imagistes

I think I have never been so exalted
As I am now by you,
O frost bitten blossoms,
That are unfolding your wings
From out the envious black branches.
A Celebration
© William Carlos Williams
A middle-northern March, now as always
gusts from the South broken against cold winds
but from under, as if a slow hand lifted a tide,
it movesnot into Aprilinto a second March,
