Worked as a volunteer art teacher at the People's Institute, Northampton, MA, while in college; served as guest editor with Mademoiselle, summer, 1953; taught English at Smith College, 1957-58; lived in Boston, 1958-59, and Yaddo, 1959; settled in London, England, 1959, then in Devon, England.
